"I found the services rendered by Daniela Cordoba at Colombian Visa Services to be very professional, welcoming and, most importantly, efficacious.  What I was not able to do on my own for 8 months of trying,  Colombia Visa Services did in 2 months.  Daniela was always very prompt in responding to whatever questions I asked her via e-mail.  The initial free contact conversation was extremely beneficial.  The challenge was being able to remember all the helpful information that Daniela was sharing with me."

Robert R

We are so very happy with Colombian Visa Services and Daniela! Years ago we were able to do our documents ourselves and it was so easy. As the years went, we had to get help with different visa services. The last we had was really not efficient and let my wife's documents lapse and it was a 6 month nightmare to get everything fixed. Daniela really KNEW what she was doing, was super helpful and professional and was so eager to help! My wife's renewal came in the VERY NEXT DAY! I highly recommend Colombian Visa Services to anyone who needs help getting or renewing their documents! Fast! Efficient! Knowledgeable! And very reasonably priced! And best of all, Daniela speaks English perfectly!

John G

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn more about what you need to obtain a Colombian Visa and how we can help.

Is It Easy To Get Residency in Colombia?

The ease with which you can obtain residency in Colombia will depend on several factors, including the type of residency visa you are applying for, your personal circumstances, and the current immigration policies and regulations in place. In general, some types of visas, such as the Retirement (TP-7) and Migrant (M) visas, may be relatively straightforward to obtain if you meet the eligibility criteria and provide the required documentation.

However, other types of visas, such as Work (TP-4) and Student (TP-3) visas, may be more challenging to obtain, as they typically require more documentation and may involve additional requirements, such as obtaining a job offer or enrolling in a recognized educational program.

Additionally, the Colombian government may periodically adjust its immigration policies and regulations in response to economic or political factors, which could impact the ease with which foreign nationals can obtain residency visas. For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Colombian government temporarily suspended the issuance of some types of visas and imposed additional requirements, such as proof of negative COVID-19 tests, on those entering the country.

Overall, obtaining residency in Colombia can be a complex process that requires careful planning, research, and preparation. It is recommended that you consult with a qualified immigration attorney and stay up to date on the latest immigration policies and regulations to help ensure a successful residency visa application.

How Do I Get a Residency Visa for Colombia?

It's difficult for most foreigners to obtain a residency visa because you typically need to hold a Migrant Visa for an extended amount of time.

However, if you're interested in obtaining a residency visa you can do so through investment and holding a migrant visa. By investing a minimum of 350 wages, equivalent to around $93,000, in Colombian real estate, you can obtain a 3-year migrant visa. This visa can be renewed as long as you maintain ownership of the property. After the 5th year, you can apply to change your migrant visa into a resident visa, which then opens the possibility of applying for Colombian citizenship after a total timeline of 10 years.

It is essential to note that to maintain your migrant visa, you must visit Colombia every six months, even if just for a day; otherwise, you may lose your visa status.

However, once you obtain permanent residency, this requirement changes to once every two years. So, it's crucial to plan your travels and keep track of the visa expiration date to avoid any issues. Overall, investing in real estate or a business in Colombia can be an excellent way to secure permanent residency and potentially citizenship over time.
